What’s in the DNA of your company?

As 2011 comes to a close, I find myself thinking a lot about what this company is made of (ie our DNA). In our DNA we have excellent customer service, an amazing process that helps companies from ordering and design, to shipping and storing, and a great bunch of people. On our good days it runs like a well-oiled machine. But we have our bad days as well. Days where someone forgets to do something and we have to figure out how to fix it (because this is also a huge part of customer service and we pride ourselves on our customer service). Or those days when our communication is not so great. So, there are things we can improve on. But in order to do that we have to change our DNA. Not an easy task, but one that is doable.

DNA re-engineering was unheard of a century ago. But, today, we know that it can be done. It just takes time, effort, and know-how.

What’s in the DNA of your company? Could you stand to rewrite your code?

There are many things that we can all do to improve our business and make it shine. Do you strive for better customer service, clear and concise communication, or more efficient project management? Whatever your goal is, remember that it can be done. The DNA of your company can be changed with enough time, effort, and know-how.

I’d like to propose a toast to all of us, from the small business owner to the large corporation. Here’s to making our business the best in 2012.
